For those unfamiliar, Wetpaint is a network where anyone can build their own free private or public wiki for a wide variety of purposes such as entertainment fansites, education, and political activism. They have a million or so sites, and all new sites are automatically loaded with several of these modules. Click the question mark in the upper right of each of the modules to view more information on what the module does.


I architectured and wrote about %95 of the front end ActionScript for these modules. It was not the most challenging project I ever worked on, but it was probably the most satisfying.


They're in ActionScript 3, built in Flash 10, playable in Flash 9, all extending from the same base class.


The color schemes are all configurable; the title can be customized; and each module has several display settings. To play with these settings, you can go to the Module Play Page, click the EasyEdit button near the top of the page, click on any module and hit the edit link that pops up. From the javascript window that pops up, you can change the colors, title and settings.

Feel free to add pages, new accounts and threads as you desire to test the modules. Don't worry about maintaining The Simpsons theme.

To test New Member Spotlight, create a new account and upload a photo for your avatar. You should see your new image in the New Member Spotlight Module.

Many different things will trigger a new line in Recent Site Activity, such as photo uploads, profile changes, page edits and forum posts. Some of these activities can be filtered out by adjusting settings on the module.


Newly uploaded photos will show up in the New Gallery Photos module. Profile images will not.


Top Contributors show the people who contribute the most.


And of course, Hot Discussions display recent forum posts.
